What kind of junk journal do you want to make?
- Gratitude
- Quiotes
- Affirmations
- Art/doodling
- Memory
- Scrapebook
- Regular journal
- Other

Gather up your supplies. Junkmail, cardboard from food boxes, old scraps, and craft supplies. Yardsales, thrift stores, and recycling centers are good places to find this. You will also need old notebooks and magazines
Junk journal kits are available on Amazon and Temu. You will need a ruler for paper tearing. You will also need glue or double-sided tape. I use good-quality glue sticks.
Another beginner-friendly junk journal is using a manila envelope. You pick the size of the envelope you want to work with. Fold it in half and pick papers of different sizes and from different sources. Fold the paper in half and tear the pages with a ruler to fit the envelope cover.
Now it is time to sew the binding of the journal. You will need a large needle and thread. You can use a flossing string or embroidery thread. You will also need an awl or a knitting needle to make a 3-hole in the fold for the needle.
